Venturing out for adventure from Ekkert's Gorge

Tunnels and Bugs

Having descended into the bowels of an abandoned fortress to investigate the source of livestock mutliations, our Heroes (Avry, Casius Kilren, Oken Sunn, Ted of Many Lives) fought series of mishapen skeletons and goblins. Determined to catch the fleeing Necromancer, they cautiously approached the lower level.

To the sounds of a screaming goblin prisoner, the heroes smashed their way through more skeletons and a giant centipede. There they discovered the necromancer had fled out a tunnel leading out to a cliff over a rushing river. The necromancer tried hard to escape but was forced to face his pursuers and fell to a decapitating ax blow from Avry.

A search of the tower above the dungeon turned up a strange magical rock that glowed red, and was unnaturally cold to the touch. Ted was fascinated by this object and kept it for himself.

Returning to Ekkert’s Gorge for their reward, the party met up again with Sheriff Barley, Farmer Egan and his son Rogan. While telling them of their exploits, Casius took the opportunity to speak of the virtues of Hextor, greatly impressing Rogan.

Barley agreed to return to the fortress, to verify their deeds and witness them finishing off the last its denizens, a dire rat the size of a large dog. Barley gladly paid a reward of 200gp each. Ted attempted to use his glowing stone to raise the rat and the wizard, to no avail.

Winds of Strange

Back in town, Ted attempted to make a profit with his stone by selling chilled drinks to the townsfolk. Meanwhile, Casius gathered a group of townsfolk at the bar to preach about Hextor. He brought a small crowd at first, including a young woman in grey robes wearing the symbol of Quolen who looked on critically. As Casius’s sermon picked up steam, so did the winds outside. Soon many more took shelter inside the tavern as doors and windows rattled. Debris and rubble crashed against the front of the tavern as Ted commanded the storm to end and the wind stopped abruptly.

The house of Jib, the tanner was destroyed in the freak windstorm, and the dazed man described strange clouds with red eyes that knocked his house down. While Oken investigated, he noticed a strange hooded man looking on, who ran and disappeared.

Ted plied Jib for information and took interest in a white deerskin Ted had just worked on. The group recovered the skin, hanging in Jib’s basement and took to the Inn for a rest, ready to magically examine the skin in the morning.
